Different Take
Cinema
Presents
Performance
Starring James Fox , Mick
Jagger and Anita Pallenberg
Friday
17th September 7.30pm
Madcap
and Make a Difference are
pleased to announce an exciting new venture in film
- "Different Take Cinema"
and we shall
be offering just that - regular film screenings
of many exciting, thought provoking and thoroughly
good films in the coming weeks and months. There
will Q & A sessions on certain films
as well as workshops and discussions on many
aspects of film. We are also linking with the
prestigious OXDOX Film Festival.
To
kick off this exciting venture to raise film and
film making in Milton Keynes we shall be presenting
the controverisal film "Performance".
Banned at the time by
the actual studio backers when they
saw the director's cut because of its sexual
explicitness and drug taking, attempts were made to
destroy the negative. Starring James Fox ,
Mick Jagger and Anita Pallenberg and made by
Nicholas Roeg and Donald Cammell in 1968, but not
released until 1970, "Performance" is one
of the most extraordinary of British films and has
since achieved cult status. It meshes the
worlds of street gangsters
and rock music
together and questions sexuality and identity.
It is perhaps the most provocative
film you will ever see.
18
Certificate .This
film is not suitable for under 18s
as it contains
strong violence, scenes of a sexual
nature and explicit drug use.
There
will be a discussion after the showing led by
Rosemary Hill - tutor for AS Film Studies at ACE.
